Paramedic Trivia Challenge Raises $12,000

July 14, 2009

How many designated face-off spots are there on a hockey rink? Who is Fred Flintstone's Boss at the rock quarry? How many BC Ferry terminals are located on Vancouver Island? These are just some of the questions perplexing attendees of the Ambulance Paramedic's Trivia Night, an annual fundraiser in support of the Campbell River Hospital Foundation.

Held every February at the Willow Point SportsPlex in Campbell River, the event is organized entirely by BC Ambulance Service paramedics, who arrange all venue and food details and solicit raffle donations from local businesses.

Every February, teams of 8 competitors test their knowledge of a wide range of subjects from geography and politics to pop-culture and local interest, in hopes of winning bragging rights for the year. Many returning teams make for an entertaining and competitive night, as contestants put their best answers forward in 4 rounds of 20 questions.

Throughout the course of the evening, guests also enjoy free snacks and further funds are raised through a 50/50 draw and raffle featuring prizes from local merchants. This year, a total of $12,000 was raised, making the event the second largest contributor to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation, raising approximately $50,000 since 1999.
