Tension is high as BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) paramedics approach the scene, unsure of what they will find. Their heartbeats quicken when they discover two battered vehicles, multiple patients and a debris field scattered across the snow. With the clock ticking, there is no time to waste.
This is the third annual BCAS Paramedic Games, a highly anticipated team building event providing BCAS paramedics from across the province with an opportunity to practice and polish the skills they use daily, while benefitting from the knowledge and experiences of their colleagues.
Held in Delta from November 7 - 9, this year's Games included thirteen teams of BCAS Primary Care Paramedics (PCP) and two teams of BCAS Advanced Care Paramedics (ACP), who boldly agreed to represent their stations and contend for the provincial title and a chance to compete in the National Paramedic Competition in Oshawa, Ontario.
Featuring seven unique and challenging scenarios, the event was well received by rookie and returning teams alike, who appreciated the opportunity to see multiple, innovative ways to assess and render care to patients.
