Service Development

Strengthening pre-hospital care for patients in British Columbia continues to be a key priority for the BC Ambulance Service (BCAS). To help achieve our vision of being a world leader in the provision of Emergency Medical Services, and to build on the foundation laid by over 30 years of exceptional service, the BCAS continues to champion numerous service development initiatives. Following is a sample of some of the regional and provincial initiatives currently being undertaken by the BCAS, which have been designed to meet the evolving needs of our patients and communities.

  1. July 8, 2011 BC Ambulance Service and Fraser Health Team Up to Help Heart Attack Patients Fast

    BCAS and Fraser Health have joined forces to provide rapid response helicopter airlift service to critical cardiac patients from the Chilliwack and Fraser Canyon areas.
  2. May 6, 2011 Revelstoke Celebrates New Station Opening

    A formal ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the grand opening of a brand new ambulance station in Revelstoke.

  3. May 6, 2011 Technical Advisors Boast Impressive Safety Record

    The BCAS Technical Advisor program has not allowed one personnel injury on any of the calls the program has been notified on.
  4. December 22, 2010 Bursary Recipients Express Their Thanks

    One-hundred and seventy-nine students are one step closer to entering the exciting and rewarding field of paramedicine, thanks to the Emergency Medical Assistants Education Fund.
  5. December 22, 2010 Technology Investments Support Service Delivery

    BCAS is moving forward with two new technology enhancements, which will significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of patient care.

  6. December 15, 2010 EMA Licensing Board Endorsement Highlights Progress

    Four Advanced Care Paramedic AirEvac paramedics from BC Ambulance Service were the first to successfully complete a province-wide training upgrade this fall.
  7. September 1, 2010 New Home Base for Revelstoke Crew

    BCAS paramedics in Revelstoke are looking forward to settling into a new $1.4 million dollar station this fall.
  8. July 5, 2010 Celebrating the Paramedic Profession

    For the first time this year, BCAS joined EMS colleagues from across North America in celebrating Emergency Medical Services Week.
