Service Development

Strengthening pre-hospital care for patients in British Columbia continues to be a key priority for the BC Ambulance Service (BCAS). To help achieve our vision of being a world leader in the provision of Emergency Medical Services, and to build on the foundation laid by over 30 years of exceptional service, the BCAS continues to champion numerous service development initiatives. Following is a sample of some of the regional and provincial initiatives currently being undertaken by the BCAS, which have been designed to meet the evolving needs of our patients and communities.

1. October 30, 2009 Recognizing Long-standing Service and Commitment

   
   BCAS staff were recognized for their years of outstanding of service during the Government Long Service Awards.

2. September 30, 2009 Personal Experiences Inspire BCAS Tour Riders

   
   BCAS paramedics were invited to participate as Tour Riders on the Tour de Coast, Tour de Valley and Tour de North teams.

3. September 24, 2009 BCAS Staff Rally to Tame Forest Fires

   
   BCAS paramedic, dispatch, management, facilities and information technology staff joinned forces to help fight forest fires.
   
   
   

4. July 14, 2009 Paramedic Trivia Challenge Raises $12,000

   
   BCAS paramedics raised $12,000 for the Campbell River Hospital Foundation through an annual trivia night.
   

5. July 14, 2009 Paramedics Praised for Role in Child Abuse Prevention

   
   The Ministry of Children and Family Development is crediting paramedics with helping keep BC's children safe.

6. July 13, 2009 No CPR Form

   
   Information on the No CPR program, a joint initiative with the BCAS, the Canadian MedicAlert Foundation, the Ministry of Health Services and the BC Medical Association.

7. March 4, 2009 Paramedics Prepare for National Gold

   
   BC Ambulance Service paramedics hope to repeat history this March, when they are set to face-off against Canada's finest at the 7th annual National Paramedic Competition.

8. March 4, 2009 Employees Surpass Fundraising Target

   
   BC Ambulance Service employees from Prince George kept the tradition alive last December when they joined forces with Save on Foods for the second annual BCAS food drive in support of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

9. March 4, 2009 Paramedics Join Partners to Support Seniors

   
   BC Ambulance Service is playing a leading role in the launch of a new pilot project aimed at helping seniors reduce their risk of falls and injuries.
