Esquimalt Seaman is Vital Link for Stranger

December 4, 2007

ESQUIMALT - The British Columbia Ambulance Service (BCAS) presented Leading Seaman Jason Sarrazin with a Vital Link Award to recognize his life saving actions at a special ceremony at the BC Ambulance Service Vancouver Island Regional Administrative Office on December 4, 2008.

On September 28, 2007 Sarrazin was getting out of his car when the shouts of women caught his attention and he noticed an elderly man collapsed on the side of the road. Instructing a bystander to call 9-1-1, Sarrazin quickly assessed the man and recognized that Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was needed, which he performed until BCAS paramedics arrived.
