Good Samaritans Save Woman's Life

July 17, 2008

Sandra Nadeau's daily routine was predictable. Everyday around 11:00 am she would venture out to collect the office mail, however this daily trip was interrupted on March 27, 2007 when Sandra unexpectedly collapsed at the mailbox. Seeing her co-worker in distress, office worker Karen McGinn called 9-1-1 and yelled for help.

Fellow colleagues, Andy DuTot, Evan Smailes and Chris Vanderburg ran outside and after realizing Sandra was not breathing and did not have a pulse, Andy DuTot, a volunteer fire fighter, immediately began Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with the help of Smailes and Vanderburg. The three colleagues continued to perform life saving CPR until BC Ambulance Service paramedics arrived.
