The following paramedic teams from the Vancouver Island Region will be facing off against their colleagues at the 2008 BC Ambulance Service Paramedic Games and Education Symposium taking place in Delta from November 7-9.
Lady Bug: Team member Paula Mercer has over four years experience as a paramedic and is currently based at the Qualicum Bay ambulance station. She enjoys several aspects about paramedic work including the constant change, the challenges of providing emergency medical care and daily opportunities to have a positive impact on people. Her fellow team members are Brad Knorr who works in Courtenay and Thomas Bellwood who is based in Nanaimo. The threesome attended training together last year and had so much fun, they decided to come together again and compete at the Paramedic Games for the first time this year.
Grumpier Old Men: Alex Mattes, Rick Tanner and John Hosie comprise the team from Nanaimo and are the returning champions.
