On October 6, 2007 Anthony and his friend Jordan Fayter were cycling at the MacArthur Island Skate Park in Kamloops when a devastating accident occurred. Jordan swerved to miss a skateboarder and fell off his bike, impaling his hip on the pedal which caused the broken bone to tear the artery and vein in his thigh. Anthony instinctively recognized his friend needed immediate assistance and called 9-1-1.
On July 21, in Kamloops, Operations Director Paul Swain and attending Kamloops paramedics Amy Berthelot and Richard Streimer, presented 12 year old Anthony Oliver with a Good Samaritan Award to recognize his quick thinking that helped save his best friends life.
