On May 27, BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) Executive Director for the Vancouver Island Region Shawn Carby presented 12 year old Jacob Snobelen with a Good Samaritan award in recognition of the heroism he showed by coming to his grandmother's aid when she became unconscious behind the wheel. Also presented with an award was bystander Debbie Sargent, a passenger in a nearby vehicle, who took Jacob under her wing while paramedics were attending to his grandmother.
