BCAS Holds Cycling Time Trials

June 4, 2010

BC Ambulance Service is holding cycling time trials to fill vacancies on the Lower Mainland paramedic Bike Squad prior to the busy summer season. The candidates must cycle a gruelling 16 kilometres in 35 minutes in order to move onto the next stage of the recruitment process.

The primary objective of the BCAS Bike Squad is to provide rapid response through congested areas at large public events allowing paramedics to arrive at the patient's side faster than a traditional ambulance might. The Bike Squad is now supported by two Gators purchased to support ambulance coverage for the 2010 Olympic Games.
