On February 12, BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) paramedics from Prince George provided life-saving support to people in need by donating blood at their local Canadian Blood Services. Paramedics were joined by Northern Region Executive Director Mike Michalko and BCAS employees from the region who donated both their time and blood in support of the cause.
Approximately every minute of every day, someone in Canada needs blood. In fact, 52 per cent of Canadians say they, or a family member, have needed blood or blood products for surgery or for medical treatment.
BCAS paramedics support Canadian Blood Services by helping promote that just one blood donation, approximately one hour of time, can save up to three lives.
