Across the province BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) staff regularly roll up their sleeves and give in support of patients and the Canadian Blood Services. July through September marks the Canadian Blood Services annual Sirens for Life Challenge, with community donation challenges happening between BCAS, police and fire professionals.
The third year of this friendly local emergency services competition was marked with launch events at BCAS stations and offices in Surrey and Kelowna, which were attended by BCAS personnel and our emergency service colleagues.
"This challenge has a huge impact on our ability to meet the needs of hospital patients throughout the summer," says Gary Dhillon, Community Development Coordinator for the Surrey blood donor clinic. "Our emergency services men and women know first-hand the need for blood and are committed to giving back to their communities through blood donation."
