BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) paramedic Terry Mitchell has completed the approximately 864 km Tour de North ride, raising over $5,000 in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. Tour participants enjoyed five and a half days of beautiful sunny weather only to find themselves battling torrential rains for the last day and a half on the home stretch from Kitwanga to Terrace and then Terrace to Prince Rupert. Not a single complaint from any of the riders was heard, whose determination to complete the last 225 km in those severe conditions was motivating and captured the spirit of the ride.
As the team neared Prince Rupert, blue skies could be seen in the distance, along with supporters from Stn. 684. Terry enjoyed tremendous welcomes from BCAS crews along the way, including the Fort St. James crew who raised over $1,100 and saw Unit Chief Mark Rivard shave his moustache and head in support of the cause. Without the support of the communities along the route, the Tour de North would not be possible. Terry would like to thank Karly Jones for the escort out of Prince George for the 2nd year in a row along with the great turn out from the Northern Regional Office staff.
