November 20, 2008
On November 7, 2008, BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) paramedics in Terrace participated in a multi-agency mock disaster training exercise. The scenario, CN - MCI/Hazmat, involved a collision between a car and a train carrying three tank cars, one of which developed a leak during the crash.
Using 4 ambulances, 1 Medical Support Unit and 8 paramedics, the scenario was an excellent opportunity for BCAS to meet with partners at CN Rail, RCMP and Fire to practice all of the components of a field response and identify areas for improvement, so responders are always ready to provide the best care to patients.
