August 15, 2008
On August 15, 2008, BC Ambulance Service paramedic Will Rogers completed a 350 mile run in support of the Servants Anonymous Society of Surrey (SASS), an organization devoted to raising awareness of the sexual exploitation of women and children in Surrey and helping these individuals rebuild their lives.
Due to injured iliotibial bands in both legs, Will had to finish the race from Beacon Hill Park in Victoria to Penticton on crutches, but despite this setback he crossed the finish line in high spirits and on time. The money raised by corporate and personal donations went towards adding two more permanent safe houses in Surrey and long term access to education for the woman and children supported by SASS.
