October 5, 2008
On October 5, BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) paramedics from Nanaimo participated in the 5 km Run for a Cure, the largest single-day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to creating a future without breast cancer. The BCAS team was initiated by Nanaimo paramedic Nikita Franzman.
When asked why she chose to start a team this year Nikita noted that, "breast Cancer touches many lives on many different levels. There are cancer survivors out there who are truly amazing and I feel honored to run on their behalf."
This year the BCAS team raised over $265.00, an amount they hope to triple next year.
