BC Ambulance Service Remembers Fallen Comrades

September 17, 2008

On September 11, BC Ambulance Service paramedics in the Lower Mainland took part in the 9/11 Memorial Ride, an annual event that sees Emergency Service personnel from Canada and the US ride to the Peace Arch boarder cross to pay tribute to the police, fire and ambulance personnel who lost their lives in the New York tragedy.

Marking the 7th Anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, this year's ride saw participants ride/drive South on Highway 99 to the Peace Arch, during which time the Vancouver Police Department's Motorcycle Drill Team provided escort. The procession then stopped at the Peace Arch for a Remembrance Service performed under the guidance of BCAS' Reverend Lowe, followed by a procession through both the US and Canadian border stations, ending at the Peace Portal Park. Once at the park, the morning's events were concluded with a casual reception.
