Paramedics Support Children's Charity Telethon

February 2, 2010

On January 30, BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) paramedics participated in the annual Variety- the Children's Charity telethon. A huge thank-you goes to BCAS paramedics Paul Henkel, Melissa Weller, Chris Tawse, Len Scherba, and Jeff Moorhouse who volunteered their time for this special event. They did an excellent job manning the telephones and accumulated a combined donation total of almost $11,000.

Variety disburses the much-needed funding to children and their families throughout BC through individual grants and the Emergency Response Fund. Every year, Variety receives over 1,270 requests for financial assistance for medical emergencies, therapies, specialized equipment, drug prescriptions, and out-of-town accommodation, meal, and travel costs. Variety also provides grants to children's organizations for construction, renovations, equipment, and program costs. If you would like to donate, call Variety the Children's Charity at 310 KIDS (5437)
