BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) frequently has employment opportunities for on-call, part-time Primary Care Paramedics (PCPs) in the Interior and Northern Regions and part-time PCPs in the Vancouver Island and Lower Mainland Regions. Applicants are encouraged to contact either the Unit Chief at their local ambulance station or the closest Human Resource Office for more information on how to enter the exciting world of pre-hospital emergency medical services.
PCPs joining the BCAS begin their career on a part-time basis and are required to be available for a minimum of 8 shifts per month. These shifts may be a combination of scheduled shifts and on-call shifts. As PCPs gain seniority, experience and training they can move to other part-time stations and bid into full-time regular positions. Employees with a PCP license have the most flexibility in moving to other stations throughout BC.
Out of Province Applicants
Individuals who hold a valid paramedic license from another province can apply for a British Columbia PCP license. Information on the requirements and forms that must be completed is available through the Emergency Medical Assistant Licensing Board. Out of province applicants are encouraged to contact the closest Human Resource Office for more information.
